Baharash Architecture plans two new biggest project in UAE

Article arrow_drop_down

1. Baharash Architecture design the World’s Greenest Eco Resort in Liwa, the southern region of UAE.

At the very early stages of the project, it was revealed that groundwater could be extracted using a deep well. This gave the design team an opportunity to create a story around a spring, which was of critical importance to Bedouins for trade and transportation routes. The spring will be used for crop irrigation, fish farming and recreational activities. The spring will also provide a natural habitat for various wildlife.

The accommodations and functional areas are distributed around the spring, which will be the tranquil heart of the resort. In total there are 84 interconnecting suites of various types, all of which provide amazing views and an outdoor terrace. Tranquil views can be enjoyed from all key spaces, including the fitness centre which is furnished with smart equipment.

The reception and back of house are located adjacent to drop-off. The restaurant and bar, provides guests with organic ingredients grown on site. The restaurant will offer indigenous delicacies as well as organic international fine cuisine. Guests will also be able to enjoy Dune dinning in the desert or dining by the spring or inside their suite. Guests are also able to forage organic produce from onsite allotments or catch fish from the spring, and with the help of a chef, incorporate the ingredients into a delicious meal. A wide selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy and local meat will also be delivered from farms in the nearby village.

A business and research facility with state of the art technologies is also provided. The resort also provides health and Therapeutic spa facilities, which use organic ingredients. The therapeutic spa will provide a wide selection of wellness and beauty therapies. All spaces are equipped with smart glass windows, which offer instant privacy at a flick of a switch.

Some of the environmental benefits include recycling waste water on site for irrigation, onsite waste management, the enforcement of a zero emission zone and 157,000 square feet of solar panels. The ribbon-like roof is designed to maximize the area for solar panels, which are planned for optimum efficiency. The resort will also employ wildlife biologists and conservation staff.

Ultimately, the Oasis Eco Resort will provide more than environmental benefits, such as economic and socio-cultural benefits. The eco resort will create job opportunities for locals, creating a more diversified economy. It will also help preserve the regions heritage and provide greater interaction with native people.

2. Baharash Architecture were recently tasked to design a luxury desert eco-retreat for one of Emirate’s highest profile individuals.

The eco retreat which is located in Liwa, in southern region of UAE, is designed to be in harmony with the pristine and untouched desert-scape.

The retreat is completely energy self-sufficient, using solar panels, it generates and stores clean power in several battery units. Other features include smart glass windows to offer instant privacy at the flick of a switch, an indoor herb garden, and a central fire place for social bonding which was a key part of the Bedouin heritage.

Staying inside the eco-retreat, in the heart of a beautiful desert, is a rejuvenating experience. The retreat will provide genuine exclusivity and tranquillity in an area which has remained unspoiled for centuries, and is home to a thriving wildlife such as Oryxes, Gazelles and Camels.

New Zealand Plans to Ban Foreigners From Buying Existing Homes

If you're in the market to buy a home in New Zealand, you might want to start considering other countries. That is, unless you're actually from New Zealand. It was announced this week by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern that starting in 2018, foreigners will be banned from buying existing homes in the country. The reason seems understandable, since recent market trends have made homeownership extremely difficult for many local Kiwis. That's because over the past few decades, outside investors have come in and bought a hefty amount of property (especially in the nation’s biggest city, Auckland, where the average price for a home is now more than NZ$1 million, or $685,000). The ban—which would not apply to Australians—would go into effect in a few months. “Foreign speculators will no longer be able to buy houses in New Zealand from early […]

Construction Begins on Frank Gehry’s Eisenhower Memorial in Washington DC

The Frank Gehry-designed Eisenhower Memorial has finally broken ground in Washington DC following a tumultuous years-long approval process. A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday at the National Mall site, located at the intersection of Maryland and Independence Avenues and across from the National Air and Space Museum. Image: archdaily.com Image: archdaily.com “This project has been an enormous honor for me both professionally and personally. I was sixteen years old when Eisenhower defeated the Nazis and led America to victory in WWII. I had lost thirty-three members of my family in the camps, so his victory was all the more meaningful to me,” commented Gehry following the event. “His leadership in peacetime was as inspiring. He led the country with strength, but also with great humanity and humility. I hope that these values are captured in the memorial, and that it […]

The Great Pyramid of Giza Has a Newly Discovered Secret Chamber

Located in Giza, Egypt, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Completed around 2560 B.C., it was once safe to assume that no major secrets would reveal themselves after centuries of scientists and researchers studying the 455-foot-tall structure. Yet, after an article on Thursday in Nature was published revealing a previously unknown chamber, all assumptions have been thrown out the window. The walls of the Great Pyramid of Giza were first breached in the Middle Ages. It was at that time that most of the inner workings of the great pyramid were first discovered. Nevertheless, there remained a good amount of information still unknown about the largest pyramid in Giza. Which is one of the main reasons why, for centuries, scientists and researchers have dedicated their careers to studying the vast […]

Sydney Art Museum Receives Big Funding Boost In 2017

Image: digitalartsonline.co.uk Image: digitalartsonline.co.uk SYDNEY, Australia — After four years of uncertainty and controversy, a proposed expansion to Sydney’s premier art museum, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, has received a major boost with a local grant of 244 million Australian dollars (about $184 million). The state treasurer, Dominic Perrottet, said the expansion would “turn our 19th-century gallery into a global museum of the future,” the Sydney Morning Herald reported on Tuesday. A government spokesman confirmed the grant. The expansion, called Sydney Modern, will also help the city catch up to its chief rival, Melbourne, as a destination for great art, and help prevent it from missing out on both exhibitions and gifts of art for want of adequate space, in the view of supporters of the project. The grant will cover only part of the cost of the […]

In keeping with veilhan’s desire to share this usually private experience, audiences across the globe can access the recordings, which have been digitalized on a sensory online platform called ‘echoes of the studio’.
